Schedule
very busy clinical program, there is one functional suite in the program at the main hospital, and one in the county hospital. no teaching in rounds, residents are there for the h&p's. rounds at MDACC can last upto 8 pm on a regular basis.
Teaching
only few of the faculty members are knowledgeable enough to teach. most are too busy to teach anything on rounds, they do have board reviews but those are at 5:30 pm when half the attendees are sleeping. there are reading conferences every week, which are questions given on a topic. you read , you answer.
Atmosphere
very busy first year, no moonlighting allowed. ancillary staff helpful, but the suite turn over time is long. and again there is one endoscopy room.
Conclusion
it is a nepotism lovers paradise, you have to be very close to the program director to get in otherwose forget it!!
