Program Director Overall Rating: 23-Dec- 2012
Teaching: Atmosphere: Research:

Schedule

No scutwork. Cover OB's who may be late getting to a delivery, but that only helps the resident. Day starts at 7am on inpatient services. Generally done by 6:30pm. Work 1 weekend out of 2. Never exceed the 80 hour rule. Interns carry average of 7-8 patients on Medicine service.

Teaching

Faculty are all approachable. Most let residents "do their thing" without interfering. Teaching constant during the day, but more focused at 11am teaching rounds. Didactics much more organized over the past year. Primary didactics are organized lectures 3 hours on Wednesday afternoons.

Atmosphere

Each resident class seems very close. Most attendings choose to be close to the residents, especially the advisors. Physical plant is dated, built in 1976, but moving to new location 2013. Percentage of IMG's currently is 2/3. All residents have lives outside of work. One is mother of 5, 1/2 have kids of their own, frequently post of Facebook.

Conclusion

The number of procedures is much higher due to the fact it is unopposed, has been a program in existence since 1976, a community hospital, and community physicians appreciate the help given by residents. All state they are prepared. The pass rate of the Boards is within the recognized guidelines. Most graduates go into community medicine, more in smaller towns.
